Random Chatter

From time to time I'll feature the "Random Chatter"
of a little birdie... a 'guest blogger'... if you will...
who calls herself LolaBird!
"Some Things"
"Some things are rushing
thru my head...
I've got to stop,
but don't... instead...
I keep on writing
like there's no time...
and keep on bouncing
like a fallen lime...
from thought to thought...
from rhyme to rhyme...
they keep on running...
running through time."

New Trash to Treasure!

Today was a studio day... which are always great days!
I was able to complete a piece I began as a sample
workshop.
As always, I used my favorite stencils, stamps and mark making tools...
I let a tiny bit of the background to show thru...
and a whole lot of the texture!
Enjoy your weekend!

Digital Art

Digital art is so interesting to me lately... and so I've been
learning a few simple techniques
 and creating simple designs!

All feature my original artwork and photos
I've taken with my camera... the vintage photos
 are my family.
Some, like the one above, will be used for
greeting cards.

Others have doodles I created on my Bamboo drawing pad.

This scripture above is Psalm 23...

I had lots of fun taking pictures of wild flowers and
then using them!
So... what do you think?  Have you experimented
with your images and created original digital art?
Let me know!  And in the mean time...
happy painting!!!

Good afternoon creative hearts!  This video
is by a fun, flirty and fabulous artist
named Melody Ross!  It was filmed
at one of her Brave Girls Camp retreats...
which I heard are also fabulous!
Hope it inspires you to create something this week!

{p.s... her online community Brave Girls Club
is free to join and I highly recommend it!}

Fabulous Workshop and new painting...

This week has been a busy one... with three
classes including one fabulous 5 hour mixed media
painting workshop!
In most of my classes I do a live demo
to help those total visual learners.  This workshop
is no exception and these details are just parts
of a new 36" x 36" painting I started.
I'm finishing it either today or tomorrow and
am so excited to see how it turns out!
Of course the biggest perk of teaching is the budding artists
I get to meet and create with.  This course is
being shared with the lovely Miss Lynn of
Her work is fabulous and I hope she'll share her finished
piece on her blog or allow me to share it on mine!
I'm also linking up today with
the lovely and talented ladies over at
Check out the link and discover
talent you never knew existed!!!
I'll be painting today... hope you'll
do the same.

Have a fabulous Friday and a happy weekend!

Owlie Glam Paintings

I've recently completed three colorful owl paintings!
They were created using pencil, water colour
crayons, oil pastels, acrylic paint, glitter and last but not least...
a collaged beak!  I've already sold one and these two are left!
It all started one lazy Monday afternoon when I noticed
a fabulous background that needed a focal point!
I had been doodling cute little chunky owls for another
project and so that's what came out!  And my doodled owls
were very girlie with long curled eyelashes.
Owlie Glam Series  11" x 14"  ...$98
The backgrounds are stamped and stenciled with my favorite tools and
the layers are painted with whimsey and freeform marks!
Owlie Glam Series  11" x 14" ... $98
It was very important to me to keep a light, happy
feel with painterly marks.

I like how the water colours add a dreamy quality to them...

and how the backgrounds still peak through in different places!

Last but not least, I love the collaged beak!  I think it adds just
the right amount of texture and finishes each painting perfectly!
Thank you for reading...I hope you like my new owlie glam
mixed media collage paintings!
Have a fabulous day!
